Book Sales
Book Sales are hosted by the Friends of Douglas Library. They have a Friends Boutique on the Main Floor of the Library that is operated daily with many items to choose from at very reasonable prices. They hold multiple large book sales a year. The dates are below.
Saturdays in 2024:
- March 2
- June 1
- September 21
- November 16
The Book Sales run from 9:00am to 3:00pm. At each sale there are books, children’s books, movies and novelty items. Come early for the best choices! Sometimes there will be specialty or hard to find books on a special table. Each sale there is also a gift table that is usually seasonally themed. From 2:00 to 3:00 you can fill a bag for 5.00!
Proceeds benefit the programs, collections, and services for the Douglas Library.
Book Donations
We collect donations for the library throughout the year. There is a large white bin that is outside the main doors of the library that is available at all times. If you have a large donation please call ahead and schedule with the Friends group. 860-228-9312 x312. Most weeks, the Friends are here on Tuesday mornings, so that is the best time to bring in a bigger donation.
Items to donate: Books(all ages), DVD’s, Blu-Ray discs, music CD’s, picture books, current books.
Items that we do not want (please do not bring to the library): Magazines, textbooks, VHS, and Readers Digest.
Items to recycle (please do not leave at the library): Books that are falling apart, books that are molding and books that have an excessive smell.
