Welcome to the Young Adult Home Page!

The Young Adult (YA) section of the Douglas Library is being remade by teens, for teens.  These changes are being made by the members of the Teen Advisory Board (TAB).  Feel free to explore the new options of the YA section right here, or at the library.  Feel free to mention any suggestions that you may have about how to make the library more attractive to local teens to a librarian or email us at [email protected]!

Please come and join us at one of our monthly meetings on the Second Monday of the Month at 6:30 PM in the bottom floor of the library.

Features:

One of TAB’s most inclusive projects is Recommendations.  We compiled books from many genres that Hebron teens have enjoyed, featuring them at the library and in our recommendation booklet.
Join TAB!  It is spring for joining things... so, indulge us in our shameless recruiting and JOIN TAB!  It is now easier than ever with all the forms available online.

TAB has won the Connecticut Excellence in Library Service Award for the "Bridges to the Community" entry compiled by our Director!  We have installed pictures from the panel discussion we participated in at the Connecticut Library Association Conference and pictures from the reception at the library.  This was an exciting recognition for TAB.  We also made the front page of the April 20th Reminder News.

Works in Progress:

Collections is an ongoing process at every library.  TAB now plays a significant role in picking out books, DVD’s or CDs for the library to order next.  Suggestions are welcome!

Soon we should be getting out a whole new set of recommended books!  Eventually these will be put on display in the YA section of the library and on the recommendations page of this site.

TAB has also been decorating the YA section of the library. Recently we have put a selection of books on display for National Military Appreciation Month. For more information, see http://www.nmam.org/.

Our Technology Committee has been working to spruce up the YA section of the website.  Check out what we've done with the Gallery

Possible Projects:

We are also planning to put on a program regarding the 2008 presidential election, to be held in the summer. We plan to have speeches from representatives of all the major candidates. Stay tuned for updates!

Additional Information:

The meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 in the basement of the library usually in the Board or Community Room. The meeting are not held if the library is closed for any reason or if Hebron's Public School System is closed the day of the meeting.

If you have any questions regarding TAB call the Douglas Library at 228-5966 for more information.
